Better blog design & make money online!

    Hello All!

I have been so busy these last few days researching online advertising and internet marketing. My bookmarks list has grown tremendously! Each site I visit, leads me to another one, where I see a link to another one and it's an endless cycle. I'm sure you understand what I mean!

The theme of blogs I have been reading are along the same lines as I am writing about.

How can we make money and keep it coming through online ideas and systems?

There are a lot of ways to generate income online. For the average person with a website the commissions usually just trickle in. Barely enough to cover the expenses of hosting and advertising.

As I try these 'money making' options, I will start to understand what works and doesn't working by discussing the major issues on this blog and elsewhere.

Today I am trying out this site that actually pays you to post blog entries. I read about it on someone else's blog and clicked on their link. I've decided to try it out for 1 month and see how it goes. It's called Bloggit and the way it works is that it's members pay a monthly subscription fee and that fee gets divided up between all of the authors of the blogs they read that month.

If you enjoy writing blogs then you should definitely look into Bloggit. I'll let you know how it works for me once the pay schedule comes through.

But where does good site design fit into all this?

I had all but given up on getting a better site design than I have now. I want to do it all on my own and not pay a designer to do it. I need to know how everything was set up. That's just the way I am.

I had been seeing excellently styled blogs in my reading and looking closer I found out the were created through wordpress.org. ( wordpress.com if you are a beginner blogger)

I've downloaded it onto my website hosting control panel because it is included as one of the applications you can install directly from the control panel on your site.

I have another website that I have been running for about 10 years now and although I don't mind my hosting provider I thought I may be able to do better.

So I did a bit of research as to who I wanted to host it and found a great company called StartLogic with excellent prices. I wanted a hosting system that had everything included which they had so I signed up. The extra's include simple to install scripts for chats, forums, galleries and wordpress to name a few!

I had been exploring around in the control panel and found 'Install Wordpress'. So I did! And then I spent hours going through different templates. I still haven't chosen the one I want to use, but trust me it will look better than this blogger one!

I strongly believe that a site has to look professional and organised before it is taken seriously. A lot of time needs to be taken in order to create a nice user friendly informative site.

I used to do my sites in basic html. I have now learned that you definitely need basic html skills but most of the difficult stuff has been made easier! This is through templates and excellent control panels like the one on StartLogic.

So now I'm really excited to give WordPress a go! Stay tuned for a new site design shortly!
